This hot work permit is required for any work that involves an open flame or is capable of producing heat and/or sparks. This work includes but is not limited to welding, brazing, cutting, grinding, soldering, thawing pipe, torch-applied roofing or chemical welding.

You should receive an email containing a link back to your completed request form at the email address you provide. Be sure to check your spam folder. Please print out the completed/approved request form and post it at the work site when you begin your work.

Precautions for Hot Work

Available sprinklers, hose streams, and extinguishers are in service and operable.* Required

Hot work equipment is in good working condition in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.* Required

Fire alarm system kept operational, detectors disabled only if necessary.* Required

Special permission obtained to conduct hot work on metal vessels or piping lined with rubber or plastic.* Required

All wall and floor openings covered.* Required

Ducts and conveyors that might carry sparks to distant combustible material covered, protected, or shut down.* Required

All holes, cracks, and penetrations are sealed with non-combustible material.* Required

Construction is non-combustible and without combustible covering or insulation. Otherwise, combustibles are to be shielded/protected.* Required

Combustibles moved away from opposite side of wall and second fire watch provided where required by NFPA-51B.* Required

Enclosed equipment is cleaned of all combustibles.* Required

Containers are purged of flammable liquid/vapor.* Required

Pressurized vessels, piping, and equipment removed from service, isolated, and vented.* Required

Fire watch is provided during and for a minimum of 1 hour after hot work, including any break activity.* Required

Fire watch is provided with suitable extinguishers and, where practical, a charged small hose.* Required
